I was playing a game on my phone while the phone was charging. Granted, my phone was sitting at 1% while it was charging and it wasn't moving above 1% while I was playing the game, which isn't unusual since the game was draining a lot of energy. Suddenly my phone screen just goes black with no backlight. It didn't shut down gracefully like it usually does when it's at 1% (powering off status screen appears before it shuts down).
I tried hitting the power button a few times and no response. I tried holding down the power button and there was no response. I tried doing a reset by holding the power button and the up volume button together, but it still didn't respond. Mind you, I tried this both when I had my phone plugged in to the wall charger as well as when it was disconnected.
Any ideas of what may have happened or what I should try next? I think it may have to do with the fact that my battery was running at 1%, might I have completely drained the battery? I'm currently leaving my phone alone and leaving it plugged into the wall charger. I don't want to lose any information on my phone as I have a lot of important documents that I have yet to back up so a factory reset isn't something I want to do.

Hi all,
I left it alone to charge for about 1.5 hours. I changed the usb cord afterwards (since it was an old one and was being held together with electrical tape in a few places), I did a soft reset (held down the power button and the volume button) and it vibrated 3 times meaning it still has life. I gave it another 1/2 an hour to charge and I got it back up and running again.
I think the problem was I drained the battery past 1% and it needed time to get a charge back to at least 1% again before it could become responsive again. All is well though. Definitely making a back up of everything tonight just in case.
I see, am glad to hear the phone is working fine now
