Screen overlay

Just updated Z3 and keep getting SCREEN OVERLAY DETECTED message. Turned off all permissions in all apps in settings list it takes me to but makes no difference. Even going to back up my phone and reset but that gives same message as well. Only email not affected is Gmail of course.

Hi, I've got a z3 and all of a sudden I'm being told to change permissions (which isn't the issue) so apps can read my storage but when I try to do that I'm told I first have to turn off the screen overlay. It tells me where to do it but when I go to the settings it says I still can't turn it off. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and can someone please please help me urgently as i need to access pics of my son and can't. Thank you

Which app it's giving you that notification? if you have facebook messenger, uninstall it.

Hi everybody, I hope you are all well.

I updated my Z3 Compact phone to build .291 a few days ago and now have an issue withapp permissions. If I try to change an app's permissions I get the following mesage:

Screen overlay detected

To change thi permission setting, you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings > Apps

then there is a link to go to the appropriate part of the settings menu. When I go the the settings menu the Permit to draw over other apps is greyed out and if I select Apps with permission the app I want to change isn't on the list. This means that I can't change app permissions for most of the apps I have on my phone. This wasn't the case prior to the 291 update.

I hope that isn't complete gibberish.

Has anyone any ideas?

Thanks for that info.  I uninstalled Clean Master and I can access my information again.  This was app causing my issue.

If anyone reads this post, and you have Clean Master and getting the screen overlay issue, this may be the reason why.

Thx a mill for that. Was going crazy reading up in various other trails but yes uninstalling Clean Master did the trick.

I removed clean master and it worked for awhile, now it quit working again and asks me about screen overlay. Now what?

In getting the same error after this last update. What's the answer and how do I fix it please anyone? I'm getting it with photos, quick pic, music and whatsapp

I can not see photos and videos, when opening I am Getting indication as" screen overlay detected"

what app are you using?

try to go to settings>apps>gear icon>draw over other apps and remove permission of the app
