Screen goes black during call

Hello, if I want to make the Z5 a call and dial the number and pick up the phone, the screen goes black and I can do nothing more. It then responds to anything, not even on the Power button until the other ends the call. Then, the screen lights up again and it goes back all normal.

Es reagiert dann auf nichts, nicht mal auf die Power Taste bis der andere das Gespräch beendet. Dann wird der Bildschirm wieder **bleep** und es geht wieder alles normal.

Have you tried my post above pinch the top right corner of the phone does it change the sensor behaviour?

I solved this by cleaning the screen on my phone with zeiss lense wipes. There is a little sensor at the top of the phone to the right of the Sony logo. This detects ear proximity. If it is dirty the screen will go black as soon as you use the phone.

Just the same. After a call the screen remains black until the other hangs the call.

I changed the phone for other one vía amazon and same issue again. I am on xperia z5 premium.

Some times, I try to use the phone and it's black for a minutes...

Its a pain and its unaceptable.

I have the same problem on my z5, i remember having it other Z models before that also (I have had them all). I am going to try activating the power button ends call option (in the accesability menu).

After about more than a decade having a new Sony (z5, z3, z2, z1, z, arc and arc-s SonyEricsson before that) I am afraid that this is probably my last Sony smartphone I hate iphones but I will give one of the koreans a chance next phone change :(....

A huge let down is seing support paroting the same question about screen protectors and cases,. guys get over it that is NOT the issue here, I have seen this brought up since the Z2, try to find solutions and work arounds to fix the proximity sensor instability not waste peoples time lol...

If this work around (power button) actually solves it I will edit or add to this post in a week or so, wish me luck 😃

UPDATE

Activating the power button as hang up option does not solve the problem in itself (the screen is still dead), but now I can atleast hang up without having to wait for the answering machine to run out of time lol.... So its a workaround that partially solves it and way better than being helpless lol!

Sametimes.,my phone is blank Screen on call end.
İf this error do then ı can not control phone. Blank Screen, not use lock button and not use on/off button.

Yes it happens to be every call i make,  Ofte when I am using message bank I cannot actually make the screen reappear so I have to actually do a hard reset of the phone just to end the call.  This has been an ongong issue for months and now today the camera has died and i despite all of the resets etc, nothing is working.  Should I contact local support?

This happens to me and I don't have a screen protector. It's so frustrating! Doesn't happen as often lately but still does sometimes!

This happens to me too and I have not a screen protector! It is frustrating and happened I believe after I installed the update suggested by Sony
