Receiving multiple sms messages

Hey guys, I have an Xperia Z1 and for last couple of months have started receiving multiple SMS messages, as in the same message comes through several times. It doesn't happen with every person on my contact list, but most. The same message can continue to come through every couple of hours through until the next day. If they have sent more than one message, the second and/or subsequent messages won't come through until day or days later. Very frustrating. From what I have read on other forums, this problem isn't limited to Xperia phones, however I have yet to find a solution for my model. Any ideas?

@Miketto If your device haven't received the latest update I'd at this point suggest awaiting it to see if it helps with this. I do understand that this is inconvenient for you though and I'm sorry for that.

Regarding update availability it can vary depending on country and/or operator so I do not know when the update will be available for your device.

@Christofer I've just updated to marshmallow 30.2.A.0.110. There is still the same problem. I don't get sms or they are delivered after hours. When I send sms and request delivery confirmation, I don't recive it, sometimes at all. I can not verify if the problem is with different operator, because of simlock!

To sum up, I'm not satisfied with this cellphone.

Any last advice before I get rid of this device?

@Miketto

Sorry for the late reply.

I have encountered this before and in those cases this was due to either a faulty SIM card or related to the network, not the device itself. Because of this, testing a SIM from another operator would be the next step to troubleshoot this but I understand that this is not an option for you.

I understand that it must be very frustrating for you but I've not seen other reports of this for the M5 and I can't replicate it either which makes it hard to investigate further, sorry to say.

@Christofer

I had to send the device to www.w-support.pl to be checked.

Will see if it helps.

@Christofer

the cellphone has just came back after beeing serviced. They said it was some software issue. The pure Android is ok so far, will see.
