I just upgraded my Z5 compact, and lost all mobile data access.
EDIT: I'm located in Norway and have Telenor as the operator.
I've tried rebooting my phone, often after each setting change, with no effect.
I've tried:
- Checked the data provider
- Turned off and on again Mobile Data
- Turning off Roaming
- Turning off Power Saving
- Changing to 3G only
- Changing to 4G
- Redownloaded Internet Settings from the network provider
- .. and probably more
Nothing seems to work. There doesn't seem to be a problem with my network provider, which I didn't expect as it happened immediately (I think - had mobile access some hours earlier) after upgrading.
Is someone else experiencing the issue and/or knows a fix?

Not sure what exactly fixed this, perhaps just switching to network mode GSM (as others have suggested) did the trick. I did what Jonblund did, I now got back VoLTE and mobile data. This is the steps for XPeria Z5 Compact.
- Go to Backup&Reset -> Network settings reset. Reset your network.
- Still in Settings. More->Mobile Networks->Preferred network type. Set this to GSM. You should now get connection to the mobile network, and should be running on Edge for mobile data.
- Resend mobile data settings. Go to More -> Internet settings, and choose to resend the settings.
This worked for me. Perhaps the last two steps is sufficient to get working again. REMEMBER to go to More->Mobile Networks->Preferred network and set preferred network type to "4G".
That seems to wrok for me on only a temporary basis. If I turn off the telephone I lose all mobile networks.
My search mode is set to automatic. When I try to choose Telenor 4G then it just says the network is unavailable at this time. Then I go over to 3G and it connects immediately.
Try turning off your telephone and then starting it again. Don't do a restart, do a cold start.
Could someone post their results?

Same happens with my phone. (When I try to choose Telenor 4G then it just says the network is unavailable at this time. Then I go over to 3G and it connects immediately.)

Hm? When you say "choose Telenor 4G" it seems like you try to select under the Network Operators. I did not select anything under here. If you get a temporary connection you could try the other suggestion in this forum, send "fix internet" sms to 1999 (this is for Telenor operator in Norway).
Or similar: You could try to set "Preffered network type" to GSM and send "fix internet" to see if that works as well.
The problem (for me, at least) was that the latest update changed my one working APN name, which are the files that control data and SMS access. It replaced it with 3 different APNs, none of which worked. Go to Settings/Wireless and networks/more/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names.
So I went to Google, entered APN SONY XPERIA Z5 CONSUMER CELLULAR (Consumer Cellular is my provider, which uses the AT&T network), and presto. Delete the 3 new ones, follow the instructions to create a new one, and all's well in the world.

I've done all that. When I start the telephone, I have no mobile network. I then go to Settings/Mobile Networks/Service Providers and must chose a provider. I naturally want to choose 4G from Telenor but after a long wait it says the service is not available so I must choose another. I then choose 3G instead which works.
Nevertheless, the obvious problem here is that the mobile network disappears if I shut off the telephone when I go to bed. This is unacceptable. The fact that I cannot connect to 4G is an indication that the update is FUBAR.
Have all the above described symptoms(Basically no service). Provider is Phonero(uses Telenor network). Able to temporarily get around it by manually choosing accesspoint and network type. However it doesn't stick and settings are lost after every restart.
Anything official from Sony on this?? Need fix ASAP!
Same issue here. My provider is Telenor (Norway) and after the latest update my mobile data wouldn't work. Resetting network settings and downloading new back over Wi-Fi works for me temporarily.
