My sony Xperia Z1 has offically self cracked.

:smileyhappy:I brought a Sony Xperia Z1 from Arogs UK around 2-3 months ago and the screen has decided to crack its self. I have E-Mailed Sony and they said they need my reciept from Argos to confirm it's an offical, only problem is I can't find my reciept. I'm really unsure on what to do now. Is there an alternative way to get it fixed? Am I screwed completly? What do?! Thank you for your help

Hello Lydbuscus,

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. All we can do at this point is to recommend that you try to talk the support team again - Sony Mobile specifically - perhaps by phone, or chat, and see if they can recommend a solution. Here are your contact options:

Hi,

This happend to my Z after 6 months, I didn't have the receipt. Logged a call with Sony Mobile via the chat and sent it to the repair place out in Rathcoole, it was repaired under warranty as it looked exactly like this:

Hope this helps,

An update to this issue can be found at the link below together with the BBC Watchdog report on this issue which was broadcast on the 28 May 2014

Xperia Z1 Cracking Screen - Sony's Response

In the above report Sony have made the following statement...

"In a small proportion of cases, (they don't say how many), screens have indeed cracked with no identifiable cause and in these instances Sony claims it has repaired the screens for free".

Watchdog have offered the following advice....

"so if your screen has cracked and it's not your fault or you've been given the brush off, please go back to Sony and push Customer Services to get a new screen for nothing".

Sony have issued a number to call: (same as in previous link)

08705 237237

Lines Open:

8am - 8pm Mon - Fri

9am - 5pm Sat
