My back has cracked by it self

Firstly, I have dropped my phone once. This did minimal damage only scuffing up my corners slightly. Months later a crack appears out of nowhere, this has annoyed the **bleep** out of me. I'm not sure what to do since cracked backs and fronts are not covered by warranty. If anyone has advice or has even been in the same situation please reply. I really don't want to have to spend money on repairing Sony's terrible frosted glass cover.

I wouldn't risk it to be honest.....if i was you if the crack isn't that bad or isn't sitting too proud & you don't want to fit a cover then have a look at the different 'skins' that can be applied to it, these aren't too intrusive & you can get ones that can just about match the original cover, it will hide that nasty crack.....but don't risk getting water on it it's def not worth the risk.

You could always try a DIY fitting on a new panel or even try a 3rd party repair shop....if you do go down one of these routes then i'm not 100% sure if it voids your warranty on the phone but again i would not risk water either

Good luck :smileysmileywink:

As you mention that you did drop the phone albeit a few months ago, the mention of the damage to the corners could indicate that at the time you may have infact either had micro cracks in the screens due to the fall, these are nearly impossible to see to the naked eye, these cracks develop in time resulting in a sudden unexpected visible crack developing. Another possible scenario is that one or more of the damaged corners was perhaps 'pressing' onto the screen, this would detract from the screen being able to flex due to use resulting in the crack suddenly developing.

If you type in Micro Cracks into the Search bar above you will see other members have suffered the same fate i'm afraid.....:smileysad:

Thanks for the reply. God this is annoying. Guess I'll stick with this annoying crack and hope it doesn't slice my finger again. One more question is the phone still waterproof? I remember reading somewhere if the back cracks it loses its waterproofing so I just want to make sure.
