Missing Xperia Answering Machine.

Hello,

Just set up my new (second hand) Z3 Compact but it seems the answering machine facility is missing.  I have checked the user guide, this forum and my old Z1 Compact to compare.  It is not under Settings>Call where it should be.

Could I have somehow deleted this facility?

I am on 6.0.1 with a 1 May 2016 security patch update in case that is relevant.

Any ideas?

Thanks

@Z3Kev

Are you referring to

settings > call > voicemail?

No, that would be service provider voicemail.  I'm after the answering machine.  It should be one of the facilities provided by Xperia in the normal menu as the instructions confirm:

"

  1. To enable automatic answering

  1. 1  From your Home screen, tap .

  2. 2  Find and tap Settings > Call > XperiaTM Answering Machine.

  3. 3  Drag the slider beside Answering Machine to the right."

and I had it on my old Z1 but its not there.

Same here - I have been happily using the answering machine on my Z5 compact until this latest update, after which it has disappeared! Where has it gone?

Glad to hear its not just me.  So it could be an update thing?

Hah!  Love that fact that the system **bleeps** the word d@mn Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

(Which was then edited out by alexdon by way of an explanation.)

Now I have a new update on Sony my ZX and the answering machine has disappeared completely but worked fine previously.
Telstra claims it is Sony's fault but they will give me voicemail at a fee!

Telstra previously disabled the answering machine by giving me voicemail which has to be turned off before the answering machine works.

It is a great feature I have used for years starting with my Z1.

Did Sony turn off this feature or Telstra?

Another gripe with this new update...I am used to mobile numbers starting with 4 numerals, why now are we starting with 3 and 4 at the end. Sure it is the same number but throws your memory out of wack!

I bought an Xperia Xz3, and there is no answering machine also. How disappointing! I have been buying Xperias for about ten years. SONY was great, but not anymore. I was happier with my old xperia X. The support is so bad that my phone does not even appear in the options for support.
