Missing music

Sometimes listen to music (with bluetooth speaker) of an evening with my partner using my phone. I had about 30 albums downloaded. Last week I went to play music, and there were none of my albums showing in the 'music' file. They had all disappeared. I haven't done anything to the phone apart from normal call & text use, and there had been no updates that I was aware of. Anyone got any ideas??

Hi @Francisd,

I'm sorry to hear this. Is it all your music that is missing? Do you store you music on your devices internal storage or on a SD-card?

I recommend that you reset your media storage, this will not delete any music files you have stored on your device. To do so, go to Settings > Apps > Tap ... > Show system > Media Storage > Storage > Clear data > Ok, then restart your device. Note that it may take a few minutes before you can see any audio files or pictures in your device again.

Well, I have no idea either what went wrong initially, or exactly what it was you asked me to do... but thank you very much. All the music is back!!

That's great to hear! :smileysmileythumbsup: What we did was to force your device to do a search for all media files stored on the device.

Let me know if there is anything else you are wondering about.

I also have the problem with the missing music. It shows in the internal storage but the music app is empty. When I try to play it by going to the internal storage music folder the music shows but when it opens with the music app it says that it can't play the songs. The songs are in Windows media audio (. Wma) format. Is it compatible with Wma or should I convert them to mp3 or download another audio player

I'm having the same problem but i can't find media storage anywhere on my settings. When i move my music to internal storage it appears in the app but as soon as i move my music to external sd card my music do not appear in the app. I'm using Android 7.
