Microphone Problem only in Regular Calls| Lolipop 5.0.2

Hi everyone,

I have Z1 for one year, and it was really nice time, recently i upgrade to Lolipop 5.0.2, but then the mic stop working good.

If i make or recieve  a normal call, the other side can not hear me well, the vocie is bad and sometime its gone totally.

But if i try to recode a voice or movie or even make an internet call using Watts App or Facebook massenger, the mic is okay and fine.

Only in regular call it stop working good.

Any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have similar problem. I established  that when phon has selected "WCDMA only" peoples don't hear me(not in every call but very often). Whent i selected "GSM only" peoples hear me but:

- when "Microphone noise supression" and "speaker enhancer" is ON the sound is bad (peoples says that my voice "interupting")

- when "Microphone noise supression" and "speaker enhancer" is OFF the sound is quit good

Sony, please repair this BUG!

I got the same problem two hours ago (the other party is complaining that he does not hear me well), I did below steps and the phone in OK now:

* Restart in Safe Mode

* Setting >> Call >> Deactivate "Microphone noise suppression"

* Setting >> More >> Mobile Network >> Preferred network type >> WCDMA only

* Restart in normal mode

The phone is OK

I hope that this will help Slightly_smiling_Face

I have had problems with viber since updating to 5.0.2
The other person on viber-to-viber cant hear me, and the same applied when he called another Xperia Z1 user.
I've tried to reinstall viber, with no change.
So how is this fixable?

@MariamY

You have to contact the app developer regarding this issue.

Hmm. But on Vibers support page they say it's an Xperia problem, and the problem doesn't occur if you use android 4.4 for instance..
So from what I understand it's the corporation between Xperia and Android?

It's not the first time that an app developer blames OEMs or Android, 5.1.1 it's a new update and app developers have to address the issues not Sony nor Google, just like if there's an issue with the Music app (former walkman) it'll be up to Sony to address the issue not the Viber developers nor Google.

Ah, I get it.
I'll go to Vibers support then and adress the problem.
Thanks for your help. Much appreciated!
Have a nice day. Slightly_smiling_Face

I put this message in a smaller thread about this issue after spending hours today trying to fix this problem I've been made aware of.

I've recently noticed that many people complain that my voice is muffled or there's a bad line - as they can't hear me speak very well when I use my Z1.

I've tried the many suggestions posted on here:- Turning off noise suppression, disabling all sound enhancements, and both re-installing the latest software as well as doing a total system reset - which meant all of my files and messages etc needed backing up first - all those options have made little difference.

It seems that the bottom microphone is picking up at a very low sensitivity. When I do the microphone test in diagnostics, the sound is just about heard (with the volume on full) either with or without headphones, and without headphones the sound comes through the bottom part of the phone.

I've read all the posts on this issue and don't know where to go from here. My phone is under 2 years old and still under contract.

But the phone call aspect of it is virtually unusable.

What tests can I do to work out if the microphone is misbehaving hardware style or the software has a bug? Will Sony test my phone under warranty?

Thank you for your comments.

Edit - I contacted Sony and it's under warranty, so has been posted back to them to repair.

I saw there may be also a fix by switching the phone to WCDMA mode. I can't find out how to do this.

I've tried settings - more - mobile networks - preferred network type .... But the three options in there are 4g (preferred)/3g/2g or 3g only or 3g (preferred)/ 2g.
