Lollipop charging bug ???

After lolipop update I can't charge the phone to full, i already made a clean setup via pc companion after i resetted the phone.
My phone goes to 84% and starts blinking charging/notcharging, so finally after 10 h of charging it has only 85% of accu. Anyone had the same?

I recorded this video to show u my problem

P.S i can charge my mobile while its turned of ..
Also im sure there are no apps is consuming the battery while im charging it .

Please fix this with an update or just tell is what to do..

I hear you.

Sony will not help me as my products (phone and tablet) are well out of warranty. I keep being spammed with sony marketing to buy the new products but there is NO WAY IN I am ever touching a Sony ever again.

If Sony had told me (or any of you) that they knew about the bug, and were working on a fix) I might feel differently. I have Sony speakers (two different types), Sony TV and have used Sony, sony-Erickson etc for years.

But like you, no more ever for Sony. I even refused to purchase a car last week because it has a SONY entertainment system in the car. This is how much I now HATE sony.

Everyone knows that once sony was known for their quality, and their customer service. Both of these things are no longer true and the much cheaper phones from China and Tiawan etc are by far superior and cost significantly less.

Sony posted a significant loss for the last two years and I imagine this year may mean the end for their company.  Do not under any circimstances purchase a Sony.  Your life will by much easier if you simply avoid them.

Brett.

Anyone tested this issue with marshmallow?

Nope, no testing with Marshmallow, since the rumored/promised update for the Z2 tablet still hasn't arrived =(

Sony will start the building Android 6.0 updates for Xperia Z2 device in October. Previously Sony took a long time to rollout Android Lollipop update. This time Sony may start the rollout quickly as there is no major UI changes in Marshmallow compared to Lollipop. So the Japanese tech giant may start the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Xperia Z2 series in December.

And it's now febuary 2016 - Google is already close to release of 6.1 and Sony hasn't even rolled out 6.0 yet. Apparently the Sony Open Devices Project is just another name for halting all development and expecting volunteers to support and upgrade Sony devices for free.

This is a hardware fault. I gave up on waiting for Sony to issue a solution after waiting 9 months, so finally unlocked my phone and tried other ROMs - all have the same charging issue, even the ones that are not based at all on the Sony ROM. So this won't be solved by a software update. Sony know this, that's why they are now keeping quiet until everybody's warranty expires

exactly....

as i told before, in november i shipped back the phone for repair under warranty, and the mainboard was replaced..

4 months later i still dont have any issue anymore with charging with the new hardware.

In later batches they solved the problem

My Xperia Z Ultra has the similar problem since november last year. this problem comes out a few days after i update to 5.1.1 lolipop... I had tried various charger but still cannot get my phone to charge over 93%. the screen turns on and off and the phone get hot if keep charging after stuck at 93%...

Today i get a china brand DC controlable power supply for my FYP project. i just want to try if i can force the phone to charge over 93% by using a voltage higher than normal usb 5v... I start charging the phone using 5.3V ,the phone draws a current of around 1.2A and charge until 92% then the phone stop charging. I increase the voltage to 5.5v but the screen starts turning on and off continuously so i reduce the voltage to 5v. this time the phone starts and continuous charging util 96% then stop again. i further reduce the charging vltage to 4.8v and the phone start charging again and now chaging to 100%. i keep the phone connected to the power supply at 4.8v and when the current drop to around 100mA the screen starts turning on and off. I assume that the battery is now fully charged and set the voltage to 4.4v while the phone still connected to the power supply... my phone seems normal now without flashing screen, battery percentage shows 100% and the green charging indicator stays lit, even after keep connecting to the power supply for more than 1 hour...

I dont know is this the mainboard problem or the pm8941 power ic is broken... It seems like the power ic cannot goes into trickle charging mode(???) when the phone battery charge to 92-93%.

I already bought another phone so i just keep my z ultra as an experimental device for my FYP project.

max voltage for a full charged lipo smartphone is around 4.2/4,3 volts

So in your test the batterychargercircuit cannot go into trickle charge.

Anyway it's clear that something wrong in the hardware, as different batches giving different results.

Good possible that the fault was in the early batches, and fixed in later batches

Sony know for sure about this, keeps his mouth shut, waiting until all phones has passed the warranty date.

Like you did the only solution is to scrap the phone and buy a better brand

Me and my girlfriend have the same problem,we can not charge the phones via usb, only through the magnetic charge port,so this is a software issue or construction issue. So correct answer needed!!!
