My Z5c has been a thing of beauty for 18 months.... In the last week I've had wifi issues but now....... Whenever I mount sd card the internal memory unmounts itself!!! Only way to undo it is remove sd card and restart phone, bosch, gallery and camera work again and xplore shows internal memory. Push sd card in, spends 10 minutes error checking, sd card works fine but internal disappears and gallery/camera etc won't operate!!!!
Hi @Tigger84, that sounds really strange, sorry to hear about it.
When you say that the internal storage gets unmounted in your phone, is it completely gone from Settings > Storage and this menu only shows your SD card?
Do you receive any error message when trying to take a photo with the SD card inserted in your phone and is the camera application set to save photos to your SD card or internal storage? You can see which memory it saves the pictures to if you open up the camera application > Cogwheel > More > Data storage.
If you have another SD card that you can mount in your phone or if you can borrow one from a friend, colleague or family member that would be great, so we can see if the current SD card is the cause of this.
Let me know if that helps!
Hi, yes the camera says storage unavailable. And the gallery etc says internal memory not mounted. The peculiar thing is under storage it only shows internal memory overall usage eg 10/32gb free and no sd card yet on a file Explorer (xplore) internal memory shows as "unknown storage" and cannot be accessed and the sd card works fine.
I Have a feeling it's to do with the apparent limitations of the system to handle large music collections..... Over 200 albums seems to cause it. I dropped down to 150 albums and it's been spot on since, though still using mortplayer as the built in music app still only sees 90% of the music when xplore confirms its all there and working
Thanks for the swift reply and for the information, much appreciated!
Would you be so kind to provide me with some logs of this occurring in your phone? I would like to forward this internally.
Follow the steps below to create a bug report.
1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number.
2. Go back and select Developer options then turn on "USB debugging".
3. Select Logger buffer size and change it to "4 M"
4. Restart your phone, then replicate the behaviour with the SD card mounted (So if you have the 50 albums that you deleted available and you can copy them to your SD card again that would be great). When this is done, unmount the SD card and take a new bug report when the SD card is not mounted.
5. Go back to Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report" followed "Interactive bug report".
When the report is ready you will receive a notification. Tap the notification to share it. I suggest you upload it to Google Drive and then choose to share a public link to the upload and include the link and your IMEI number in a PM to me. You can find your IMEI number in Settings > About phone > Status > IMEI-information, starts with 35 and is 15 digits long.
Thanks in advance!
HI, I understand your reason for asking this but I'm not keen on replicating this as takes some time to do the data transfer and once it happened only thing that stopped it was to format sd card and transfer a lesser volume of music. And I'm in no position of being sure it would be corrected any time soon, meaning I have to do so, again.
No problem at all, I understand that it's not fun to redo the whole process again.
Should you experience this behaviour again, feel free to get back to me with the logs and I will do my best to find out more about this!
Thanks for being so quick to reply and for providing excellent information. Have a great Wednesday and let me know if there is anything else!
