Some days ago I received my highly anticipated Z3 Compact. I'm very happy with the phone, but some minutes ago I noticed a defect.
It appears the headphone jack is loose. When I insert the pin there's a significant play were you can move the pin around. I will contact the retailer about this, hoping it will be fixed
Any other noticed this problem?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I've had my phone for about 4 months now and I've also noticed significant movement in the headphone port. Oddly enough, when I move it there is no interference or breaking of sound, but sometimes (not too often) it does pause by itself. Really annoying. Hope this is not a design flaw.
Same problem here after 3 months of use, sent it back through retailer for examination and repair. They had better fix it for good, otherwise I'm really gonna make a bad press about Xperia phones.
I've never had such a problem with any previous MP3 players or phones, and judging by the number of users reporting the same issue, this is close to unnaceptable to have a major flaw like this on a top end device.
Exactly! A flagship phone such as this (its price on the Croatian market is around $650), and look - a really high number of users are complaining about a design element which otherwise shouldn't be so problematic. And I wouldn't even be phased by it if it wasn't such an expensive device. It's really unacceptable.
6 weeks later: the headphone jack started crackling again a few days ago
The only headphone I use is the MDR-NC31E, which is extra designed for the Xperia.
As many other owners are experiencing the same problem, this is definitley a design flaw! The headphone plug does not sit firm in the audio connection.

I'm using only Bluetooth overhead headphones since audio jack connection broke. I'm waiting with sending it for repairs a few more months with hope that Sony will figure out the problem with jack connection. I'm thinking that mayve the ffirst batches of "repair/replacement parts" are broken and with time Sony will get "good parts".
Hello,
I also get the crackling in about 2-3 weeks time, but I discovered that the issue is the dust and lint that gathers from pocket and etc.
Just a couple of air blows in the jack ussualy fixes the problem.
I've had my Z3 for about two months and the headphones were fine until about two weeks after
Now I've tried 4 seperate headphones including the ones supplied wth the phone and none of them work
It's really starting to irritate me because I can't seem to get any help from Sony themselves
I tried that already when the problem occured for the first time, and it didn´t help. I even used a special air-spray used for cleaning DSLRs.
Greetings,
Joe
