Is there any solution yet?
I have the same problem with my new Z5. I have an IP camera, which send an email alert if a motion is detected. all this stuff worked fine with my old Z1, but the Z5 Email App shows "Downloadlimit reached", although it is deactivated in the configuration menu.
all other emails seem to work to a certain size. if i resend such a camera mail from another client (thunderbird) it works, but only 4 out of 6 pictures in the attachement are shown. the picture have a size of about 50KB each.
All other mails seem to work properly.
I have the same issue with the Xperia Z5 bought a month ago. The actual phone is use in Cuba with a natau.cu email address. And it seems to work perfectly between natau.cu email addresses. But when someone from Canada is sending an email from gmail, hotmail or other IMAP/SMTP the phone says : limit reached. Once, a photo appeared. But now, even the email doesn't seem to come in!!! Grrrrrr!!! So many problems with this phone, I should have bought another Iphone. Really Sony, you should put a recall on your phone or at least the option to be reimburse for those who are really tired to deal with this problems.

We are currently looking into the log @saswatch sent us (thanks!) and we would like to compare what the log shows with another user who also gets this message. Would it be possible for you to provide me with a log from your phone? If so, please send me a private message.
After undate to MM it seems to be ok now

Have the same problem on my tablet z4 and phone z5
I had the same issue when I upgraded to the latest version of Droid on my Z3. I traced it to a setting in the mail. You have to go to the actual settings for the mail account that is having the problem. It seems they introduced a new setting called 'Pre Download Limit' and the default settings is none. But it can be changed to 'No limit' to get the same functionality as before or it can be increased gradually if you want to make use of this feature. I looked on a lot of forums before I started looking on my phone settings.
Thanks Garytrinder for your reply.
The problem was there even when the pre download limit setting was set to no limit.
It seems to be working perfectly now after upgrading to Android v6 marshmallow.
