Dialer Stores Wrong Number In Call Log When Using Google Voice For Outgoing Calls

I recently purchased a Z1 Compact and have discovered that when using Google Voice to dial all calls, the forwarding number is stored in the call log. This makes it hard to track who I'm calling. From what I've read, this is the number that Voice calls before connecting you to your contact. The way it's worked previously on other phones is that the contact number is stored in the call log and the forwarding number is called in the background. This is the proper way and what I'd like to get back to. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm on 4.4.4. If anyone has Lollipop, has this issue been fixed? The one workaround I've seen is that you should store these numbers in the contact information (as each number is specific to a contact) so that you'll see your contact in the call log, but I'd rather just fix the issue. Ultimately, I believe the issue stems from Sony modifying the stock dialer such that the Voice app doesn't hook in properly to show the contact phone number in the call log. I've seen that some Samsung phone users have the same issue. Please let me know if you have any advice.

Whatever the issue was, it has been fixed in Lollipop.

Have you tested other phone apps? if you have, which apps? do you encounter the same issues with other phone apps?

I've actually tried a few other dialer apps, most recently True Phone. The issue persists even with a different dialer.

Then it could be an Android "issue"

I think that it's more likely an issue with the modifications Sony made to the phone application. Voice probably integrates a specific way that would work with the stock phone, but with the modifications Sony made, the API's aren't available anymore or something like that. Hopefully Sony reads these forums and will fix this in the next software release. Is there a bug tracker of some kind?

Have  you contacted Sony directly?

I got in touch with their chat support, but they kept saying to use Hangouts instead of Voice, which isn't a solution. I heard the Lollipop is coming out soon, so I'll try that and see if they've fixed this issue.

Do you experience the same while using hangouts to make calls?

Hangouts only makes VOIP calls, so it doesn't interact with the call log.
