Hi All, I have just loaded my music files to Media Go and find they are all duplicated. How can I delete the duplicates, easily? Also, why would only 26 out of 500, of my songs from my old iphone been copied across to my new XperiaZ? Thanks.
ah the joys of apple and why I told all my friends to stay clear - far too brand specific and when you don't like them anymore well it's just painfull to move to another platform like android which is totally open, that is why your iphone stuff didn't come across - it's not compatible
as for duplication I can't say, I populated my android phone from my old symbian using a simple file transfer - I didn't use mediago but that in your case could have led to problems because you'd a load on incompatible media on your sd drive - you'd have had to delete them - not that hard once you know the file extendion
media go may even have tried to convert some files - you have a mess that there are many ways to address but all of them I think will be painful
I've never owned an apple devive so maybe someone who has done through this process can help further
I've avoided the MediaGo function in the PC Companion for this reason, I didn't want it to give me all duplicates of songs I already have rather than just syncing the new song's i've downloaded but nontheless. You can either delete them using the File manager app pretty easily or you can even do it in the Walkman App. Go to your music (not the player) choose the tab with all your songs, it will come up in a list and if you press and hold briefly a menu will pop up giving you the option to delete your songs.
In the future i'd simply using a 'Music' folder on your computer that you can just move onto an SD card and get your music that way. I haven't had any problems
Thanks for the replies. I think I have it sorted. You have been very helpful.
I've spent the last 18mths putting up with Apple, and iphone with all its restrictions.
I will now spend the next cple mths, 1. Trying to figure out why I got caught up in the Apple bandwagon and, 2. Enjoying the fresh air of non restrictive open platform.
As you said, GeoffH, It's painful to move back from apple. But it's certainly worth it.
(I can't get the 18mths back though)
Did you figure out how to delete all the duplicate songs Rob?
I am glad I never went down the apple road of d00m but am willing to help recovering victims xD
I downloaded MediaGo but now I realise there was no need (my mind was still contaminated with the iphone, itunes linking thing etc
The link below was useful for converting songs to MP3, and now I seem to have songs all over the place. As for the duplicates in MediaGo. I suppose I can always delete MediaGo and also get rid of itunes and start again (I think).
Now I appear to though, have an issue with my messages. When I transfered them from the iphone only a few older ones appeared in the new phone. I have had the XperiaZ for a week with a sim card in. But all of my messages are still going to my old iphone (no sim card) I,m sure there's a simple solution
Hey thanks again for your help.
just make sure in the sms app that you have your carriers correct message service number
Boy that iphone just won't lay down lol
Transfer of sms is not pefect even on from an older symbia SE phone - I had to jump through hoops the get it done - maybe time to say goodbye to all that history and start anew
