cracked screen but that's not the issue

so my front screen cracked, meaning i cant enter my screen lock code to get in to the phone itself.

every other hardware button works perfectly, and today i received my replacement device as part of the my insurance with 3mobile.

BUT... seeing as i cant get in to my phone, i cant do a factory reset / grab data i want BEFORE i have to send it back to 3

I cant for the life of me boot it into recovery mode and have read contradictory articles about whether a stock recovery mode is even included. When connected to my laptop via USB i cant access the data either as it requires the phone be unlocked.

Any ideas / clarification you can offer would be greatly appreaciated.

Sorry to hear about your phone.

If you can still see the display you can connect a mouse to it using a USB OTG adapter and unlock it and perform a reset.

There's no recovery in the phone but you can perform a software repair in PC Companion if you want to reset it.

Forgot the wonders of ebay - now that i've seen it i think there may well be one included in my original product package.

If not, i know where to get one.

Yes, depending on your country and dealer you may have got one in the box with the phone. They can be used to transfer data from iPhone to Xperia so they are included in some regions and by some dealers.

But if you didn't get one in the box you can get one on Ebay (our is called EC310 but any OTG adapter should work). Dealers that sells mobile phones will probably have them as well.
