Contacts stock app crashes

Hi there,

Since I updated to marshmallow, my contact app crashes as soon as I start searching / typing a single letter.

I already tried cleaning the cache, force stop and even system repair. The contacts app works fine for 2 or 3 days, then the same problem appears.

If I start the phone in safe mode, the app works fine and this also lasts for 2-4 days (in normal mode).

I already thought, it might conclude with the missing sync feature of the present facebook android app, because facebook disabled connection / sync with 3rd party apps.

Anyone facing the same problem?

Hello Sony Community

Right after performing the latest upgared both the phone and Contact apps stop by themselves with the annoying message: "Unfortunaately x has stopped".

Already tried the factory reset, eliminating google plus, changing the format to 24 hours and it doesnt work. All hanges were done independently.

Is there an option to perform a roll back of software if t was created by the latest upgrade? I dont mind going back with a more robust SW as log as the phone works.

Worst situation for me as I am traveling Slightly_smiling_Face

Please advise,

@CHRISBAZAN

you can contact your Local support to see if they can inspect your phone, you could also repair the phone with XC

Same issue here with E6653, even after a factory reset. It happens after updating my software to 32.2.A.0.224

On my phone the problem stopped with firmware .224.
I'm pretty sure, it's a firmware-problem and it depends on the sync features. My phone is actually running fine for 10 days.
If you like to get rid of this bug for some days, start your phone in safe mode. This will last for 4 or 5 days.

I booted up my phone into safe mode, and the contacts app crashes like it did in normal mode.

Perhaps it's related to Google sync?

I'm sorry to hear that Slightly_frowning_Face

Would it be possible for you to take a log file from your phone after the contacts app has crashed and send this to me?

To do this:
Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number
Go back to Settings and select Developer options and turn on "USB debugging". Then tap "Logger buffer sizes" and set this to "4 M".

- Restart the phone and then open contacts. If it crashes:
Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report". When the report is ready (may take a minute or so) you get a notification that you can tap and share to Google Drive. Please send me a link to this file in a private message.

Think I'm having the same issue.

Z5 Compact updated to 32.2.A.0.224 yesterday.

To reproduce:

Go to Phone -> click on the green circle with dots to bring up the keypad -> press any mumber - Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped

or

Contacts -> click on any contact - Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped

Same thing happens in safe mode.

I tried clearing the cache and data for the Contacts and Phone app, wiping the cache partition, nothing worked.

The only suggestion from phone support is to reinstall the OS using the phone xperia-companion which I'm not ready to do yet since that's the nuclear option.

Let me know if you want the crash report log file if that will help Sony debug the issue, seems like it's common.

Appear to have same issue.  Last night installed android update and now if I want to enter a number to call it closes after the first character and when I click save on a new contact.  The ONLY way I can now use the phone is if it is in the call history.  Tried clearing cache and I do not have google +.  If I factory reset wont it then tell me in a few days i need to update it again to this version that appears to be causing the problem???  Phone is Z5 premium dual sim.
