Contacts not showing in contacts list.

I have just got this as a spare phone for use with a Overseas SIM when im away with work. I have used PC companion to upload the contacts from my PC, it says successful. However when looking on the phone it says there are no contacts.

If i then go to add a new contact, i used a couple of colleagues at work, once i have entered their name, it pops up with a match and would i like to use it, if i select yes, then all their details are there. I save it, but its still not in contacts. can someone please tell me what needs to be done to see all my contacts.

Contacts-settings(3 dots)-filters.

Thanks i had read about filters but could not find them. also so many "hidden" options, but finally go there
