Can't turn on WiFi after update to Lollipop

Hi All,

I just updated my xperia z lte to lollipop today v. 10.6.A.0.454.

Everthing looks good except two major issues:

1. WIFI won't start --> trying to turn it on but it keeps on trying and then off again

2.battery --> I can not turn on STAMINA mode --> it can be turn on however everytime I check again the status is off.

been trying to restart and swith off several times but it doesn't help.

does anyone has the same issue or any experience on how to solve this. Thanks

Yes this ^^^ 110% support

Why should I have to risk losing all my data to the incompetent pc app? I did last time and it wouldn't transfer back, the program would continually crash.

Hello.

I'm using an Xperia Z3 Compact D5833

I upgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1 (I don't recall how long ago). Last week, my phone's battery was drained. I turned it back on after charging for a few minutes. I turned on the WiFi and noticed my phone had trouble with the connection. At first I thought it was the WAP, so I turned it off to cool then turned it back on. But that didn't improve the connectivity. Also, my laptop wasn't having problems connecting to the WiFi so I figured it must be my phone.

I restarted my phone. When it was back on, the WiFi would no longer turn on. MAC Address and IP Address are also "unavailable".

I tried factory reset, reinstalling lollipop through PC companion, downgrading to KitKat, using Safe Mode, and still nothing. I checked WLAN MAC addresses in Service Info through *#*#7378423#*#*. There is a value assigned to MAC Address 1.

Mobile data works fine. Bluetooth was working when I checked a few days ago and now it stopped working as well.

Is this a hardware issue? If in case anything needs replacing, would you recommend I still use Lollipop or should I stick to Kitkat?

That is good question, what to do after replacing hardware? Keep it on lolipop or kitkat? I haven't sent my phone yet to the service, I will do next week.

Has anybody done this? Sent phone for service and is it working now? On lolipop? No issue?

I'm not sure what I did, but my WiFi and Bluetooth just started working. I'm not sure if I simply restarted it or turned it off then on again. I think my phone was charging when I rebooted it. I didn't touch it for over an hour. When I checked the Bluetooth was already turned on, so I tried turning the WiFi and that worked as well.

I would still like to know what the issue was, though, in case it happens again.

(At least we know it's not a hardware issue?)

Thanks.

Hi Support Team,

I am having the same problem. I updated from 5.0.2. to 5.1.1. and since then my wifi won't turn on. I carefully followed all the steps of your given solution (Repair via PC Companion - tried it four times!), but it still won't work. After that I reseted my phone to the factory settings (tried it two times!), but it still won't work. After that I flashed another firmware on my phone, but it still won't work!!!

It's obvious that the problem is not a hardware problem, since there are some many others who had the exact same problem after updating and not before!

I still support Sony and I'm still a brand evangelist - five friends bought the Z3 because I recommended and praised it. I kindly ask you to give us other solutions (I don't care if I have to program something resp. if the solution is complex) or at least tell us how long do we have to wait until a update will be released. This is the least a customer deserves after he paid around 450 EUR for your device!

Best regards and pls reply to our posts and show us that you care.

Sony, what exactly is wrong? You seemed very disinterested to fix this issue which obviously came from the software update. Other than repeating "reinstall with PC Companion", is there nothing else you are doing? We need a solution, not a parrot.

As far as I know, some of my Z3 users (including myself) is close to having our data plan busted through the roof because YOUR SOFTWARE does not allow us to connect to WIFI.

Sit up and get some work done. Fix the **bleep** problem. And Sony's next reply better not be "reinstall with PC Companion", unless you have employed a team of parrots.

Yes, Sony team get to work and give the solution, otherwise you won't see any of us buying sony phones any more....

We have investigated this issue and collected logs from a few users who have this issue and i'm afraid this is not a software issue. If WiFi and/or bluetooth can't be turned on the phone needs to be repaired or replaced.

Before you contact a service location we do however recommend that you try to repair the phones firmware using PC Companion or Bridge for Mac. This is to make sure that there's no other cause for the issue like a failed software update or 3:rd party app causing it.

For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, please contact your local support team.

That sounds awfully dismissive.  Am I to believe that Sony will do nothing to rectify this situation, or even admit liability?

You really expect us to believe that everybody having the same problems after installing the same update is merely coincidence?  There is a very clear connection shared by everybody posting in this thread, the update, it's quite obviously no coinicidence.  It sounds like you're claiming that every phone that is now malfunctioning just sorta broke somehow, miraculously at the same time as it updated, if so than Sony needs a better liar covering this issue.

I don't buy that excuse for a second, our phones could connect to WiFi before the update, now they can't.  Thousands of phones don't all just break one day out of the blue, and this repair you speak of should be taken care of by the people who caused this, not on my bill.
