Can't turn on WiFi after update to Lollipop

Hi All,

I just updated my xperia z lte to lollipop today v. 10.6.A.0.454.

Everthing looks good except two major issues:

1. WIFI won't start --> trying to turn it on but it keeps on trying and then off again

2.battery --> I can not turn on STAMINA mode --> it can be turn on however everytime I check again the status is off.

been trying to restart and swith off several times but it doesn't help.

does anyone has the same issue or any experience on how to solve this. Thanks

Yesterday my Z decided to not connect to the wifi. Looking into what happens. It seems that when entering the pass code it randomly selects what encription to use (WAP etc). The IP address is either 0.0.0.0 or 169.?.?.?. and I'm using 192.

It does connect via BT Fon which does not need a pass code to connect to the internet to start with. But to access the rest of the internet I log in on the web page). I have a BT Home hub 5 which has three other Xperias all connected. I have even set the 2.4 and 5Gh Wifi's on seperate SSID's but no luck.

Come on, you can't just give the same answer over and over again. There's loads of us in the thread that already have tried to 1) reinstall through PCC 2) made a factory reset 3) wiping the cache 4) a number of other "solutions".

It's still not working.

What's the next step? If there is one.

I've been having this problem too, but with a slight variation.

Phone to wifi works OK after I update software, then after a while, might be hours, might be days, it just locks out of wifi in the same way other people have described.

Have Sony acknowledged this problem?

Have they fixed it but not toldme?

I am the owner of a Xperia Z. I have it for two years, and, almost never, it has been giving me any problem at all.


But... since the Lollipop update, I've an ugly one: the phone DISCONNECTS from wifi, and it says that there is a "authentication problem". As it connects every day to google play in order to get actualizations of my apps, I have to control every time if the wifi is active or not.

No, it's not a problem of the phone, nor my wifi. The problem was started at the moment that the "lollipop" firmware arrived to my xperia.


I've read in these forums that the solution is to "repair" the phone using the "companion" program. The problem is that I HAVE THIS PHONE FOR TWO YEARS, AND I DON'T WANT TO LOSE ALL THE DATA (apps, SMS, Phone numbers... even LEVELS REACHED IN GAMES). Sincerelly, I tested some backup apps in my very old "other phone", and NEVER I've got the phone working as before it did.

Then... Please, Sony: could you launch an firmware upgrade with a version A LITTLE more than the lollipop one to do an NORMAL update?... or could you explain us HOW TO FORCE A REPEAT OF AN UPGRADE WITHOUT LOSING ALL DATA IN THE PHONE? Please, please, please...

yes please SONY fix this issue, it is not an option for me to use strictly data. WIFI is a very important part of a smartphones use. I am finished using pc companion to do the update but it did not help. SOMEONE needs to make an update that works.

I've Updated My Sony Xpreia ZR to Lollipop,After update wifi is not switching on.I've gone through the above solution,but its showing some error:There is no software Available For Your Device.Please help me.i need to get out from this problem soon becoz i mostly use wifi.plssss help me soon

I have the same problem with wifi and bluetooth on Z3 6633 (dual sim) after upgrade to lolipo 5.01. I have tried to upgrade to 5.1.1 and still the same problem. Tried pc companion, still the same. Maybe the only solution is to downgrade to kitekat???

I downgraded to kitkat, and it is still the same, no wifi no bluetooth. Meanwhile I have got message from sony support, that this not a software issue, but hardware. So the only solution is to send the phone to the service 😞 mostlikely they will change motherboard
