Hi folks,
Today my Z1 advised me a software update was available. I started the process, but I found my Z1 showing a screen stating "the software update failed. Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again" and it then shuts down and gets stuck in the same loop whenever I try to restart, including trying a reset (either power+vol_up or the red reset button under the SIM flap).
I have connected it to my PC and launched PC Companion (latest version as far as I can tell) and PCC simply cannot see the phone as being connected. I've tried using different USB ports and trying to "catch" the phone at the point at which it is "turned on" (i.e. showing the update error message). When connected to the PC it will sit happily turning itself on, getting as far as the error message and then shutting down again.
I'm usually pretty good with tech but this one has me baffled! Any help would be appreciated!
Many thanks,
Mark

Hi MarkC71
Welcome to the community.
Unfortunately if the update has failed the best course of action would be to run a Software Repair.
Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:
And Bridge for Mac:
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
