XZP not charging

Hi all,

My XZP has stopped charging, all original cables used. Red light comes on but no % increase to the battery. Unplug the cable to reattach and the light doesn't come on and the lightning symbol does not display. Switch the phone off and connect the charging cable and it goes through the process of looking like it will charge but it does not apply any charge. If the charging part of the phone was broken then wouldn't it not do anything when a charging cable was connected.

The phone is under Sony warranty but I bought it from Hong-Kong. Is there anyway of getting it to Sony for warranty work without having to go through the original seller?

Thanks,

Alex

Good luck with that! From what I have read a few times now Sony does not warranty phones sold from another country. In fact most phones sold outside of the originating country do not have a warranty. So, I could be wrong here, but I do believe that you will have to go through the original seller as you suggested.

The warranty from Sony is still valid, but it will have to be sent back thru the correct channels.

For a phone that has been (privatly/grey/etc) imported, it will have to be sent back to the original seller/region and handled/repaired on those service-terms.

This is normal for most items that does not include specific world-wide warranty support (that you will of course have to pay extra).

-This is a risk the buyer will have to acept when bying items from another region/part of the world.

It is a tricky situation. Normall, the warranty is restricted to the country you bought it. Even if you get an warranty extension, it won't be repaired in your current country, if it isn't also supposed to be sold there.

Best to explain with the device models. If for example only the single SIM xzp is sold in your country. You can also get it from another country, as long as it is the same singlr SIM version. But if you buy the dual SIM zxp. Sony will reject to repair it, since it isn't normally sold in your country.

It is simply because, they don't have the parts to repair them. They only get supplied with the parts for the exact models they also sell and they can't order part's from other models.

I was told that by the phone support. Same thing told by huawei and samsung.

Thanks for the replies. The phone is being sent back to the sellers who will repair it. 4 to 6 weeks it will take apparently.

Have you tried cleaning the charging port?

I had same problem. I cleaned charging port with a toothpick and it started charging again.
