Hi,
i have an issue with my XZ1C (Italy, last official firmware, no root).
I bought it at the end of October 2017 and really like it.
Till half of January everything was ok.
Starting from about that date, i noticed an issue with battery and wifi.
If my phone is on and i connect to a wifi, i see a battery drain rate about 6%/hour.
If i reboot the phone (leaving wifi on), everything comes back to normal (less than 1%/hour).
(Tested with two different routers)
No problem with 4G.
It happens to other users, too (see xda forum).
Is this a known issue?
There is/will be a solution?
Thank you.
I have the same issue and I´m from sweden. I have the latest firmware: 47.1.A.12.34
Then I use Ampere (Ampere is a charge measuring app which also monitors battery discharge) with Wifi off the discharging value I got is approximately: -170mA.
Then I measure with Wifi on and with 2.4 GHz I got the value: -280mA.
And last then I measure with Wifi on with 5 GHz I got the valute: -340mA.

I have the same problem. In addition to what wrote above, when I turn on wifi, I can see the lower arrow of data connection always on, so something is constantly connected to internet (or to lan) and download something constantly. Maybe the problem is related to some app or system service. With this problem I can't keep wifi on in standby, I can use only 4G, because the battery consumption is too high.
Same problem here. I'm on the latest Customized UK firmware but it started on the previous update. My idle drain with wifi on is about 7%/hour and the phone gets hot during this time. With wifi toggled off, it's less than 1%/hr.
Has anyone tried to see if there is a difference when WiFi scanning is disabled?
I have WIFI scanning OFF.
(the one in wifi-settings and the one in google-localization)
I also have WIFI scanning OFF!

I have seen a very bad battery drain on my phone (xz1 compact), too (running latest firmware DE customized).
After doing A LOT of research (check https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz1-compact/help/how-to-deactivate-rcs-service-rich-t3730605 ) I disabled rcs services, disabled a lot of apps, deinstalled apps I don't really really need, checking BBS dumps (and posting them on xda), checking wakelocks...even did a full reset of my phone.
If I did boot the phone to safe mode and back to normal mode everything was ok, but as soon as I lost my wifi signal (left the house) once or changed any wifi settings, the battery consume went crazy again.
(I could not see any hint in the buildin battery consume app or anywhere else... Just my battery went nuts and used like 7% battery every hour on wifi, not on LTE.)
Now here this was the cause in my case:
Because my routers wifi is pretty **bleep**ty (Speedport Hybrid) but I am forced to use it (no other router can be used for hybrid internet on my ISP) I use an AVM 1750E repeater in bridge mode to handle the wifi playing an AP (router --> LAN cable --> AP --> wifi --> profit ;D ).
The 1750E has some powersaving stuff enabled without any options to disable them plus, you can only tell it to use "up to" 100% power... the 1750E limits the power if "not needed".
I suppose here is the root of the problem: The sony thinks the signal is not strong enough and never puts wifi in standby mode, but keeps it at 100% --> battery consume goes crazy.
For me the only solution until now was to open an extra wifi (on my router, not ap) for my xz1 compact.
Now my phone's battery is okay again (after 2days 14hours light usage still 55% left).
I hope sony can fix this problem... My nexus 7 (2013), an iphone se and my huawei mediapad m3 don't have any problem using the 1750e wifi.
(I don't really want to have an extra wifi just for 1 mobile...)
Edit: Location services and bt+wifi scanning are disabled of cause.
Has someone from Sony read this discussion?
Was this problem reported to engineers to solve it?
Was a solution found?
I dont have this.
I lost 5% from my 7,5 hour sleep. totally acceptable. Conected to 2.4ghz router and sometimes 5 ghz, depending where i am. I did not reboot my phone since monday, and i dont do this so often. I would know if my battery was drayining by wifi...
