Xperia xz premium calling problem

I have just come across this problem. I am not very tech savvy, I ring my friend and she answers but on my end the phone is still ringing so I don't know if she has picked up has anyone had this problem I'm baffled thanks

Are you calling your friend via mobile network or via 3rd party app like WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook messenger, G talk etc. 

What you are describing is something that is seen in VoIP calls, where the person you are calling answers the call, but gets no audio and you keep hearing ringing.

This is sometimes a firewall issue.
