my Xperia XZ (F8331, Android 8.0.0, FW 41.3.A.2.184) has extremely poor WIFI roaming.I have two access points, one providing a string and steady signal, and the other one providing a merely notable weak signal. the Xperia will almost always connect to the weak AP. What can I do to fix this annoyance?

To cover my whole 2 story home I have installed two WLAN access points, one on each floor, (same SSID & Passphrase, different channels, 2,4GHz). At my desk the phone connects to the one on the other floor, though the signal is so weak that it is barely working (-80dB). The other AP (-53dB) is sitting right in the same room, and the phone won't roam to it. Never.
I can force the phone to connect to the right AP by using external tools like "Wifi Roaming Fix", and it works perfectly for a while, but once or twice a day, without any reason and even if the phone remains unmoved, it will roam back to the weak AP.
Using the Wifi Roaming Fix tool is merely a solution and more of a workaround, since despite what the developer dreams of,. the tool doesn't run in the background, I have to activate it manually every time I notice that the phone doesn't work correctly any more, and after say 3 seconds it does - 100% of the time - establish the conenction to the "good" AP. Unfortunately trhe "fix" won't stay, any time later the phone may, for no apparent reason, disconnect from the good AP and roam to the bad one.
Anyone having a, explanation for this extremely annoying beaviour, and a suggestion what I can do so Wifi roaming works correctly?
