Well it's a sad day, I've returned my XZ1. I love Xperia phones but I just havent been able to justify this current model. Main reasons below:
No more Double Tap to wake - I love that feature and although I got a Sony Style Cover, I really miss having the phone on my desk and being able to tap it to see what messages were displayed on the lock screen.
Front camera skew - Patch applied - I took the phone with me to a number of Christmas venues in December. In all of the selfie photos my family and I look either skewwed or like cardboard cut-outs - Im so glad I took my Xperia Z2 with me as well, the quality is much lower but we all look normal.
No night light - This never used to be a problem with previous Xperias but since Oreo the notification bar can not have an overlay placed on it - that makes the basic bluelight filter apps a little pointless. A number of phones seem to have a build in filter but nothing on the XZ1.
The quality of photos in normal/low light - It's not like Im taking photos in the dark - Most of the photos I have taken are blurred indoors, even my Z2 takes better and when compared to friends S7 and my sisters iPhone 5s I have been embarrased.
I have loved some feautures - as always, the camera button and the excellent fingerprint reader plus the speakers. Unfortunatley its not been enough for me to keep the phone. I honestly dont know what to do next as I love the Xperia design and everything Sony.
I feel you. I ve noticed all of these issues. But in my country you can't return a phone. I have to keep it for years now.. or sell it at the 3/5 of the price you bought it after a month... Choose wisely your next phone.
All of your reasons are correct and I am having those issues with that phone as well.
I am Sony Fan from a long time and still using my old Z1 Compact as secondary phone.
I have been posting and emailing issues/suggestions/feedback to sony but so far I am getting canned response and ignorance.
Sony is not acknowledging or fixing the reported issues.
The attitude of Sony towards customer is rude and full of ignorance.
I regret purchasing XZ1 over Oneplus 5T (Oneplus is lot of Cheaper than XZ1).
I want to return XZ1 but can't do that.
Sony's resale value is really bad so I don't have choice other than sticking to this.
Yes, Sony camera software is not good in XZ1, I listed what should be changed in this topic,

but it has no any response from Sony like "we will send this list to some dev team or managers to check, etc."
What I can say ... if the camera will not be improved (it is software issue) during next 3 - 4 months, then Sony will not be my next choice definitelly. Sad, this Sony XZ1 is my the first phone device, I wanted to try that. Let's see if I did mistake ...
Same here. I'm big fan from Sony, but this time.... If they don't do anything in coming one, max. two update to improve camera, I'll sell XZ1. End from now I cane say, that it will be sad day.
Unfortunatly this is true...
And all of us are a sony fan for a long time...
Sony is alive with it's customers and still dosn't respect them...
This phone is a real good phone for daily usage but besid that, has a lot of bugs and no one attention
I have an XZ1 while my wife an S8+. XZ1 is way behind in everything except music player and active noise canceling.
Even pictures, photo app and photo editing are way better. And this is a Sony's core business...
Next phone will hardly be a Sony if they will go on this way.
