Hi there,
Is it only me who hear buzzing noise while ZX2 is wirelessly charging on the original WCH20?
This is very annoying noise especially in the night when ambient is completely silence.
Doesn't matter vertical or horizontal position Noise is the same.
It sounds like old fashion transformer
Are you sure it's not the internal fan?
The WCH20 is a fast charge wireless charger and these types of wireless chargers have a cooling fan that comes on as heat rises.
Well, how we know that?
As far I know this is very first product of Sony Mobile which has fan built in.
There is no single word even with fine print on the spec page that this charger has built in fan.
What is more interesting, there is no noise level in the specification therefore how to justify this is faulty bearing / dirty fan and needs repair?
Imagine Video Projector which by definition has fan inside do not have this information.
I am feeling screwed spending about 80 eur for the accesories which suppose to be used as night phone stand next to bed, especially with designed Qnovo Adaptive Charging saving battery, which emits noise.
And this is rigth from the first second after placing on the stand. There is no built in thermal element switching this on at certain heat level.
I have wireless charger in the car, whcih might have fan as well, but with ambient car noise this is irrelevant but still have sometime warning on the phone that due to "High temperature in device
Charging has been stopped. The device will automatically resume charging when it has cooled down."
Why this is not a part of the WCH20 to switch on fan only at certain temperature levels.
I am really dissapoited with this fan.
Looking for option to return this back to shop.
PS. I have been informed by Technical service at Sony that info about noise is actually mentioned in the Support pages but not on the main product page. And still without noise levels.
What I know is that the high temperature harms battery. So, I think your wirelles charger in car will distroy battery quicker than this Sony Wireless Charging Dock WCH20 because of heating. So I would rether have that minimum noisy Sony Wireless Charging Dock WCH20 than heating wirelles charge that looks like plate. Especially at summer.
On Sony page they wrote 9W fast charging with heat control so I immediately assume it has some kind of fan because of little holes on dock. And yes, it has some noise but that is not bothering me.
