I have just returned from my annual holiday to a music festival in Australia which had tempertures , approx 40 degrees celcuis each day, thats roughly 104 in the farenheit scale. When I attempted to use the video function it would start then stop immediately with message onscreen saying phone is overheating video function will stop until phone cools, or words to that effect. I like my sony xperia , but this is the first smartphone I have had where I have been unable to video outdoors at this first festival . In the past I have had 3 different nokia/microsoft Lumia phones which operated fine in the heat, over a 5 year period. I updated my xperia with the latest software before I went away. I hope Sony can address this issue My phone is the F8331.
was the device exposed to environment all the time before you attempted to start the camera? it helps to perform a restart to relieve the device of background apps and thus use less power/heat
No, it was in my pocket of shorts ,and I had motel room style accomadation so it was only in the elements when I went out. It was a 15 minute walk from my room to where the festival was happening, as soon as I got there I tried to use it and it wouldnt work normally, it would run for about 5-10 seconds then shut down. Even earlier in the morning when the temperature had not peaked it still would not function correctly. Yet when I use it at home now,it works fine.
