Hey guys! I updated to oreo yesterday on my sony XZ (single sim, 32GB) and apart from the moderate issue mentioned above, I've not experianced any other major or moderate issues such as considerably worse battery life or performance hits (unless the 300-400MB higher RAM usage counts, resulting in more reloading of apps). In terms of minor issues, twilight not properly working and the finger print scanner being slightly more picky is probably the only two I've noticed.
Anyway, the title probably tells you what the moderate issue is. The headphone jack no longer properly works.
When I plug in a pair of headphones/earphones, sometimes it will detect it and play music for a couple of seconds before it 'thinks' they were unplugged. When I try tapping play (as it auto pauses), the sound comes from the phone's speakers instead. After a couple of seconds, it would then redetect the headphones being plugged in and then a couple of seconds think it's unplugged again (and continue in a cycle of detection and disconnection). Other times it will completely fail to detect that something was plugged in.
I've tried restarting my phone and I've tried 7 different wired devices (2 headphones, 3 earphones and 2 speakers) however all of them experiences the same issue.
Before the software update, on nougat, it had no problems with wired devices so I don't believe its a hardware issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
On a side note, how ironic is this? I upgraded from a Z3C as mine suffered the headphone jack failure and I'm basically experiancing the same issue(ish) as the device I upgraded from
I have the same issue, except my phone (Sony Xperia XZ) won't even recognise the headphones. They still work on other devices and this is only happening since the Oreo update.
Please fix this Sony!
Me too
Merci
Hello do you still have the problem or have you been able to fix it? Because I have the same problem the headphones do not work sometimes the music comes out of hp sometimes no sound does not come out neither hp nor earphones .. Moreover when I make calls people do not hear me when I'm in hp and vice versa if I remove the hp. Do you have the same problem ? Thank you
GT
Bonjour.
To answer your question I'm still having the same problem. I only use headphones for music so can't comment on the call issues. Other headphones work with the phone, and my headphones work on other devices. The problems only started with the updrade to Oreo so it's a bit of a coincidence.
The only suggestions I've had from Sony so far are to perform a software repair (Windows/PC - http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/xperia-companion/
OSX/Mac - http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/xperia-companion-mac/) but this involves backing up all my app data, etc and I don't want to do that (I lost loads of stuff last time).
The speed and battery life of my phone has also been significantly worse since. Wishing I never did the update.
Having the same problem on my compact x after upgrading to oreo.
I'll try to escalate this further. If anyone of the affected users didn't mention what's the model/brand of his headphone, please do.
Same issue, Sony Xperia X, Skull Candy headphones... Seems like a rather big bug to slip through UAT... Just saying...
Ok, so went into Audio Setting and switched my Dynamic Normaliser off... Headphones now work.
To be honest I wrote that so long ago that I can't remember (Brainwavz, maybe?). I gave up and bought new ones.
My old set had a volume rocker on the cable so I'm wondering if that was the issue. They worked fine before the software update, though.
