Stop sms bubbles

How do I stop sms to show bubbles? I have not activated that function and I only want Facebook messenger to show me bubbles, no other apps. I've not allowed Facebook messenger to read or show my sms either. How do I stop this? I have android 8.0

@Simon_Callander I think you need to use another SMS app to be able to do this. Textra is a good option which lets you remove the notification badges from the icon.

@Simon_Callanderdo you mean the little dot showing on the app icon when you get a notification from it? go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info, then find the app you want to disable dots for, tap on its entry, and go to App notifications and disable "Allow notification dot" setting.

@alexdonI don't think so, Notification dot is a separate option. the notifications in the status bar should be fine.
