Screen burn-in (Image retention)

Hello,

I have recently purchased XZ1 and using it around month.
While using the phone I noticed the famous "Screen burn-in" at the soft-navigation key and top-notification bar.
I immediately fired diagnostic app and saw serious burn-in marks.
Please check the photo of the phone depicting situation in diag mode.
I am using this phone around 1 month with brightness less than 25% and
with automatic brightness enabled and without much heavy usage.

I am very disappointed that I have to bear the annoyance of the problem.
I am seeing this problem within short period with this phone.

Why burn-in protection techniques are not being implemented ?

PS: I already contacted my local xperia support.
This post is intented to share information to xperia community.

Hi I noticed this same issue one month after I purchased my Xperia X back in October 2016 but it did not bother me much since I knew I was covered by warranty and that was the only issue I had, but after some time that vanished, and don't have the anymore.

So I don't think it's permanent like the OLED screens but if it bothers you, get some advice from Sony..

Using my Xperia XZ1 for about two months now. Don't have any issues so far.

I noticed the navigation bar which has burned-in on @Tagilso's screen looks different from the default Xperia Home navigation bar. Maybe it's a third-party-issue?

Tagilso's screen is like that because he uses theme which has different navigation icons.
Please run diagnostics for display yourself specially gray color and notice the whether issue exist or not.

Not permanent, and common amongst LCD displays.

Be thankful it's not amoled or it would be a permanent burn in

I don't think it's common. There are displays (most) in Sony phones that don't show image retention. Even if you keep an image for 3 hours displayed. Only some units show these problems, so I think you could say that these units are faulty.

I know it is common for LCD to have Image Retention.
Well I have Xperia Z1 Compact with me and using it for nearly 4 years and no sign of Image retention yet (That phone does have the permanant on-screen navigation bar as well).
I was just shocked to see that hapenning on the new xz1.
Samsung and few manufacturers implemented the few techniques to protect from this issue.
I wish sony implmented something for this.

agreed, that's LCD "dirty screen effect" not burn-in.
