problem with my internal storage of my sony xperia xz

I have a Sony xperia xz which as a problem with the internal storage

It as 16gb total but I can only use about 4gb...when I try putting anything in my phone using a computer it after using 4gb it says that(the device is either disconnected or as stopped working) please help me

I believe there's a limit that you can't transfer files bigger than 4GB from the internal storage to a computer.

I can't transfer or download anything behold 4gb but the storage still say(available space 12.07gb)
