Phone not responsive

My husbands xz2 has developed a flaw where it constantly talks to you about what's on the screen and the device is not responsive to touch screen scrolling and selection. I have the same model, both upgraded in June this year and mine is fine. This happened overnight, with no explanation. Does anyone know what it is and how to stop it?

Many thanks

That sounds like a Screen Reader has been activated.

I don't have the same phone as you but the setting should be in Settings - Accessibility - Screen Readers, and either Select-to-Speak or TalkBack must be activated.

If they are then turn them off.

Hi @CPayne, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

As @Tizer wrote, it does sound like the Talkback function has been activated and the device works a bit differently with this function activated, for example, you will need to double tap instead of single tap and use two fingers on the touch screen to scroll/swipe.

To deactivate this function, follow the steps below.

  1. Drag the status bar downwards with two fingers.
  2. Tap the gear icon and then double-tap it.
  3. Using two fingers to scroll through the menu, find and tap Accessibility, then double-tap Accessibility.
  4. Tap TalkBack, then double-tap TalkBack.
  5. Tap the switch beside On or TalkBack once, then double-tap the switch.
  6. Tap OK, then double-tap OK to confirm.

I hope that helps! Slightly_smiling_Face
