Media issues since Android Pie Update

Since updating to Android 9 (Pie) I can no longer play media through the handsets speakers, this is not isolated to one app as I have the issue with several apps (snapchat, soundcloud, Spotify  Facebook etc).

Works fine through headphones and Bluetooth.

Ringtones, notifications and alarms work through handset speakers so it's not a hardware issue.

Media volume is maxed out so I'm not just being a nuffy.

---Update---, I also have no in call audio, so your update has essentially made my phone a gameboy

Did you check if there's something inside the connector?

When it is set to 'open' the signal won't go to the speakers.
