OK Google While Charging

Hi Guys,

OK Google voice detection use to work with the screen off while the phone is charging. However it is not anymore, is there a setting I'm missing or was this removed for some reason?

Thanks,

Ok, got some information on this which states that the OK Google™ options have changed since after updating the Google™ and the option to wake the screen while the device is charging by saying “OK Google” has been removed.

@sprete982 I have noticed this too and it has been escalated. Will keep you updated.

Wow thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping it was something dumb I was doing wrong haha.

I just bought this phone and have been looking endlessly for a solution.

This feature is really important for me.

Is it possible to rollback to a previous version where this feature is working?

Any updates, feedbacks or workarounds for this?

I'm surprised there is so little activity on this issue. We can't be the only people who use voice assistants?!

Hi alexdon, really do appreciate you pushing to get information on this. Was this a google choice of removing or Sony choice? Just wondering who do we try to push to get this much needed feature back. Would downgrading the google app work?

@sprete982 downgrading the app helps. As far as I can tell from the above statement, it seems like the decision is on Google's end. I also can't tell if it's going to be implemented again.

You could try to forward your feedback to Google.

Thanks alexdon for the feedback. I did a bit of googling and there is nothing concrete I can find but there is some people claiming it was removed to keep the feature exclusive to Google pixel phones. I'm going to look into using tasker and Autovoice as a workaround to detect when the phone is plugged in and listen to commands, rather not do this though, feature was amazing when it was just built in.
