My MMS replies are sent as mass SMS

Hi I have a xz1 compact running Oreo and When I receive a MMS text I can only reply as a mass SMS. Any ideas?

On Google messages go to Settings > Advanced > Group Messaging

You can either set reply as a mass text or send an mms reply to all recipient. Worth checking which option you have checked, based on your description I'd guess the first one.

theres no option to do that. The advanced options are auto download MMS, use simple characters, get SMS delivery repots, SIM card messages and phone number.

Could be that there are differences dependent on network operator in this case - maybe an option that they have to enable (I am with o2 in the UK).

Have you tried a different SMS app to see if you're able to set the option, or if the behaviour is different?
