In Whatsapp and messaging my stock keyboard still autocorrects words occasionally and there seems to be typing lag. With alarming regularity the space bar fails to register if I'm typing fast. It has been the same way on both XZs I've used.

Yes, use that link Sunking provided, I installed it and Xperia keyboard is just working perfectly in my XZ.

I don't understand the complaints some of you have.

The XZ has many issues but Swiftkey is certainly none of them.

Text prediction can be switched on or off in the settings, you can decide which symbols or numbers to show, you can change the size and there are dozens of themes where you can chose the best visuals for your taste. Swiftkey can be fully customized, you just have to do it.

You can never remove certain autocorrect features, you can't remove the top bar of suggested words (so.landscape mode becomes a pain with the tiny screen real estate due to the enlarged keyboard), typing accuracy is a joke, and the keyboard lags when typing fast. The Xperia keyboard is a million times better. Typing was actually a dealbreaker without it and I would have returned the phone....that's how bad Swiftkey is on the XZ.

That was from SwiftKey direct, without painful and slow manual correction of nearly every word... It should have said:

I have never had such poor keyboard performance from a phone... My previous Z3 was easy to get used to. But 3 weeks in to the XZ this is the tosh that I get... Awful awful awful.

Just install the The xperia keybord.. Its not that hard to find.. I did because I seriously hate swiftkey and no voice typing.

Do you still feel that the keyboard is slow and sometimes miss space now with Xperia Keyboard?

The typing experience with the Xperia keyboard is night and day better than it was with Swiftkey. Accuracy has increased by something like 90%! I do still occasionally find that the space bar hasn't registered my press but I can live with it. I could also do with a longer space bar because I often hit the period key...

I do not understand why Sony decided to downgrade the keyboard to SwiftKey.

The Sony keyboard was so much better overall. Digits (123) panel was organized as now the only possibility is to have 3 columns in the center right or left side (odd) and with swift it is not possible to have the same view as Xperia had. It takes even more clicks to get to the ";" sign. With Xperia keyboard after long press I already had my national language signs out of the box, with Swift have to long press and switch to the left or right...i do not event want to provide more cons of this mistaken Swift. It is simply bad.

Honestly, how can I have the Xperia keyboard back please?

So far XZ is a mistake in terms of software... So many good features removed completely or downgraded.

The keyboard was working fine, why are you doing it to us Sony without even asking, or at least giving a choice which one I want to use
