Hotspot Performance < 1mbit

Strange thing: Received my XZ1 Compact yesterday.

Due to an outage of my landline I had to switch to mobile hotspot today.

phone is in LTE network and if doing a speedtest on the phone it has normal bandwiths of >30mbit down and >15mbit upload.

When connecting my pc it is under 1mbit download and under 0.5 mbit upload. Tested also with my tablet - same values.

When testing connection on my tablet via the XZ1 it also has very low bandwiths via the hotspot so the XZ1 is the problem.

Anyone else having the same issue?

What could be done? Software update?

Are you sure this isn't your carrier? They can throttle hotspot speeds, especially if you've gone over a certain amount of data usage. I'm getting my XZ1c today and I'll try to remember to test this out. I'm in the US on T-Mobile.

Well, I tested this, and got the same results, but then I realized my T-Mobile plan limits tethered devices to 0.5 Mpbs. So, unfortunately I can't help, as I'm getting the expected speed. But, maybe this is the case with your carrier as well? If you're on T-Mobile ONE, this is the case. (You have to upgrade to the ONE PLUS plan if you want high speed mobile hotspot.)

Hi,

thanks for the tip - as I tested with another device in the same plan this could be excluded from solutions.

On my side it was simple.

After unpacking and installing inkl. updates I only did one restart. Seems something else happened in the system afterwards that caused the weak WLAN performance.

When checking the Sony Support site the first task was to fully switch off and on the phone.

--> worked!

Now I have same bandwith than other devices in my WLAN.

Same on my Xz premium. 

Bit rates so slow I cannot open a web page or check email so I have to carry another device as my hotspot.
