Help Me Get Rid Of this Icon in the Status Bar.

I can't get ride of this stupid icon in the status bar.

It looks like a growing sign wave.

When I drag down it says:

"Android System 1d

Smart AudioBook Player is running in the ba......

Tap for details on battery and data usage."

When I tap on it I get the App info page and ,

"No data usage"

"5% Battery use since last full charge"

SO WHAT!  I don't care!!!!!!!!!!

I have disabled all notifications from the app.

I have disabled every notification I can find anywhere and still this comes back.

I have stopped the app...no help

I have restarted the phone...no help

I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and....no help.

This is obnoxious.

I don't like running with all notifications disabled but useless notifications are worse then no notifications.

Help Please

Pete

@PeteCal;

In version 47.1.A.12.34 te option is greyed out, do you already have version 47.1.A.12.75?

No, as I said in Message 5,

"Could it be that System, About Phone reports Build Number 47.1.A.12.34?

I searched this forum for how to get the latest build and could not find anything.

Xperia Companion reports I have the latest software.

Android Version is 8.0.0.

Android security patch level January 1, 2018

Kernel version 4.4.78-perf+ Builduser@BuildHost #1

@PeteCal;

I told you needed to wait for 47.1.A.12.75 in message 9.

Right.  But as of this morning (2/10/2018) I also found:

/t5/Xperia-XZ1-Compact/New-Firmware-released-just-now-47-1-A-12-75/td-p/1299703

Which says it is released (but apparently with a lot of bugs).

But I can't find a way to get it.

In message 11 you asked if I had it.

I am confused.

@PeteCal;

You must be patient because the software updates are not released all at the same time (depends of your costumization version).

Regarding the bugs I have the update since 70 hours now (on my XZ Premium) and the only bug that I found until now was regarding the Swifkey keybord app and Xperia Support Forum page (there is some problem with the prediction), mostly the update is positive.

My message 11 was simply an answer to the message 10, message 9 was an answer to previous messages.

I'll wait.

@Quester

As I said, root is needed, take a look at the post from @PeteCal.

We talk about the XZ1C not the XZP....

@NunoSEN2

Problem is still there, even with version .75.

See the posts in the XZ1-Forum.

Sony has already told to fix this bug in further software-version.

@TheRealEasy;

I can not talk for the others but I was able to do it in stock XZ Premium (not rooted) after 47.1.A.12.75 update, as the XZ1 and XZ1 Compact version is the same I think they should also.

Now to add to the confusion.  Back in Message 10 I described how I tried to turn off notifications from apps running in the background but could not because, although the switch was to the right (turned on), it was grayed out and wouldn't let me change it.

I thought it might be because I had turned off all notifications and if I reenabled all notifications I might be able to change the background one.  Well I couldn't change it with all notifications enabled.  It remained grayed out and the notification about this one particular app using battery and data remained on the status bar.

I just left everything as I had just selected and put down the phone.

Then a few hours later I noticed I was NOT getting the Battery/Data notice.  But I did get a symbol, a pause symbol as when playing back an audio or video.  It was from the audio book playback app and told me what book I was listening to last night and paused.  In the settings for the app there is no such option.

I went to apps and notifications and saw that notifications for that app had been turned back on like I described doing last night when I turned all notifications on.

I turned off notifications for this app and the pause symbol immediately changed to the notification about Battery/Data.

This isn't useful to us users but maybe, if someone gets the assignment to fix this, they can learn from what just happened to me.
