I can't get ride of this stupid icon in the status bar.
It looks like a growing sign wave.
When I drag down it says:
"Android System 1d
Smart AudioBook Player is running in the ba......
Tap for details on battery and data usage."
When I tap on it I get the App info page and ,
"No data usage"
"5% Battery use since last full charge"
SO WHAT! I don't care!!!!!!!!!!
I have disabled all notifications from the app.
I have disabled every notification I can find anywhere and still this comes back.
I have stopped the app...no help
I have restarted the phone...no help
I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and....no help.
This is obnoxious.
I don't like running with all notifications disabled but useless notifications are worse then no notifications.
Help Please
Pete
That's not Sony but Google/Android, you will have to send your feedback to them.
Thanks.
I put it on an abdroid forum.
Is there an official forum for things like this?
Hello @PeteCal;
To get rid of this notification go to Notifications>Android System scrool down to "Aplications Running in the Background" and simply unselect it. I made it in my XZ Premium with the 47.1.A.12.75 version.
Hope this helps.
NunoSEN2,
I seem to have a problem following your instructions.
Under Settings I don't have a Notifications>Android System to select.
The closest I get is Apps & Notifications. Nothing there about Background.
I searched Settings for Notifications. Nothing about Background but I turned off all the notifications that Settings could find.
I searched Settings for background. All I got was "Metered networks are treated....... and Wallpaper.
Could it be that System, About Phone reports Build Number 47.1.A.12.34?
I searched this forum for how to get the latest build and could not find anything.
Xperia Companion reports I have the latest software.
Android Version is 8.0.0.
Android security patch level January 1, 2018
Kernel version 4.4.78-perf+ Builduser@BuildHost #1
Thu Dec 14 10-43.20.2017
The detailed pathway to find this setting is as follows:
Settings -> Apps & notifications -> App info -> tap on the 3-dot icon top right corner -> Show system -> scroll and find "Android System" -> App notifications -> disable "Apps running in the background" channel.
@Quester
Root is needed to do that...
Hello @PeteCal
As I told, you need to have version 47. 1.A.12.75, wait for that and then follow Quester detailed instrucions.
OK, Quester,
I followed that route and Apps running in the background has the switch set to the right (on) but it is gray and cannot be switched. I assume that is because I have notifications turned off at some higher, overriding, point.
I have just gone to settings and searched for "notifications". I enabled every place I could enable. Then I followed your path and still the Apps running in the background has the switch set to the right but it is gray and cannot be switched off.
What bugs me is I have been using this app for years, across 3 or more phones and never had this problem. Of course this notice may be new to Oreo but I have been using the app daily since early January and never got this notification until (I am thinking) this week. I sort of remember doing some kind of update recently. Is that what bought this on?
