Did i understand you right, music which you playing sounds on phone speakers, but not sounds in headphones? I should understand like that? Are you can't connect your headphones with smartphone?

Topic name is:"headset not supported?", but you talking about "continues play" 
Which headphones you have and what is your model name? Not all Sony's headphones is supported with all Sony's smartphones models, need always to see specification information

I'm so sorry to hear about that. 
Have you been using this headset previously with your phone, or was this the first time you tried them together with your phone?
On most headsets there is a small white label on the cord where it says a model number, could you check that and see what the headset is called, or if you still have the box which the headset came in!
Do you have another headset that you can try in your phone, or if you can borrow a pair from a friend, colleague or family member and see if the sound is being played in those and not in the speaker of your phone?

If it has worked before, it would be great if you have the possiblity to try with another headset, just to make sure that the headset is not causing the troubles with the sound not being played from them.
If you can't get a hold of another pair for the time being, you can try and reboot your phone in safe mode and check if the sound is being played from the headset when third party applications aren't loaded.

Since it's the same with another pair of headset/headphones, I would recommend performing a software repair using Xperia Companion, just to make sure that this isn't caused by the software in the phone.
The software repair will delete all data stored on the internal storage in your phone so creating a backup using Xperia Companion before starting with the repair is advised.
If you experience the same behaviour after the software repair has been completed, get in touch with your Local support team so they can arrange for the phone to be sent in and be examined by a technician at an authorized service centre.
