Emoticons in received SMS/MMS are not rendered

Hi,

I just switched from my Xperia Z to Xperia XZ2 for crazy amount of money and I am just curious why emoticons are not rendered as images but displayed as set of characters like in old times (e.g. :-)) ?
The issue is with received SMS/MMS only. When I am pushing a SMS/MMS all the emoticons I am using are rendered OK.

Does this happen with all recieved text messages or just some?

@nstwr are the missing icons from one particular sender.....i have seen this problem crop up before from senders who are actually using Apple mobiles but that was quite a while back 🤔

Yeah, that's along what I was thinking. Not seen it in a long while though.

Missing icons are not from one particular sender and not from one particular device and OS. Funny thing is that just after I posted here for the first time I have received a sms where some of emoticons are rendered as icons and some are not. Sent from some Galaxy device.
