Disable talkback (permanently)

Hi,

Am using XZ2 Compact (amazing phone, love it).

One annoyance though - when my son borrows the phone he often manages to activate TalkBack which is kind of annoying to turn-off once it's on... Often need to restart and go through the menus.

I don't know how he activates it, but I think it's some kind of combination of the side buttons -volume, power etc. Is there a way to stop this being activated via the side buttons?

To be clear, I know how to turn off TalkBack once it's on, (settings >  accessibility > TalkBack .....but I'm looking for a long term solution, since I will "never" need the TalkBack feature in real-life.

Hi @SwedishRob,

Yeah, having to deactive TalkBack over and over is not the most fun way to spend your time, I agree on that, even if you know how to do it, it's very annoying.

There is setting called "Volume key shortcut" in Settings > Accessibility and this is by default set to activate TalkBack. To active TalkBack when this is setup, all you need to do is to press and hold both volume buttons for 3 seconds.

You can either turn this shortcut off, or remap it to have it activate something else instead, such as Xperia Assist, just go to Settings > Accessibility > Volume key shortcut (at the top) and turn the service off, or tap on "Shortcut service" and change it to another action.

I hope that helps and have an awesome weekend! Slightly_smiling_Face
