Difference between a UHC20 and UHC12 chargers

I'm looking forward to trying the QC 3.0 feature, so i was wondering what is the difference between these 2 types of chargers?

Hi @doriandiaconu,

The UCH20 is not a quick charger, it's just a regular wall mounted charger.

UCH12 and UCH12W are both quick chargers that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and the only difference between them is the cable that is included together with the charger.

The UCH12 comes with a micro USB cable and the UCH12W comes with a USB Type C cable, so in your case, the UCH12W would be a better fit as you will have both the USB Type C cable that was included with your device and the one that was included with the charger, so you have an extra one (both works with the UCH12W charger).

I hope that answers your question! Slightly_smiling_Face

@doriandiaconu

They are the same, the only difference is that one comes with a cable and the other is just the wall charger.

Hi, could I ask? Would it be ok to use the UCH12W wall plug with other cables to charge other devices such as camera batteries, Anker power bank, etc? It's just that it would be nice to be able to take just one plug when travelling.

I'm just concerned that using the charger to charge other devices might present a safety issue.

Thanks

Hi @Glyno,

That will depend on the device that you are trying to charge and how it works with a charger that outputs a higher output than a regular charger. Below you can see how much output there is for the UCH12W charger.

5V/2700mA (13.5W)
9V/1800mA (16.2W)
12V/1350mA (16.2W)

My best recommendation is that you contact the manufacturer of the devices/accessories that you are going to charge and check with them if it is OK to use a charger that will output a higher output than a normal charger, that way you will know for sure if you are safe to use it or not.

I'm sorry that I can't give you a more detailed answer that this, however it's a bit tricky when it's not our products that you are going to charge.

Hi Jonas

thanks for the reply and good advise. I think it just might be wiser to use a standard charger for the other devices.

Hi again @Glyno, you're very welcome! Slightly_smiling_Face

Yeah, I agree with you on that. I'm not sure if other devices are meant to be quick charged at all or if they will have to be charged the slow way, but rather be safe than sorry when it comes to charging and batteries! Slightly_smiling_Face

Have a great day!
