Collective Thread: Issues after Android Pie 9.0 update

Hello all

I would like to collect the issues after the update on Android 9 (Pie), because i have seen a couple of issues in this and other forums.

With this collection the Sony support becomes a better overview of all problems.

Please post your issues like below:

My device has the following issues:

- Hangs for minutes after turning on the screen.

- Fingerprint sensor doesn't works.

- Volume up button doesn't works.

What i have tried and the result:

- Factory reset. Even without any apps installed after the factory reset the same issues.

You should try a software repair with Xperia Companion and test it without installing backups, if after that you have the same issues is probably an hardware failure (I don't have any of those issues in my device with Android 9).

It's definitely not an hardware issue!

I have watched a video in Youtube and the volume up button worked fine.

After that video i started the update and after the update it hasn't works anymore.

And i have done a factory reset without backups and apps installed.

If it was a hardware failure: what explanation do you have for all users with the same issue after the update? It was a coincidence?

Only that you don't have this issues it doesn't mean it's not a software failure...

If you are shure it is a software issue then make a software repair with Xperia Companion (it is different from a factory reset, in a factory reset you are using the same software and with a software repair you will use a fresh version of the last sofware).

If I don't have that issue and used the same software it probably means that it is not a problem only of the software.

Volume up doesn't work for me either and is Not a hw issue.

Software repair done.

Issues: the same.

The most annoying thing is the stuck when i turn the screen on.

I have to try to unlock the screen several times.

What is the opinion from the Sony support?

i just updated my phone to the last .41 software and i have the bug yet...

Did a fsctory reset and fingerprint sensor worked for the rest of the day and then it broke again.

Come on Sony, you have got to do better than this.

Same issue here - finger print scanner and volume button stopped working. I can't believe Sony are washing their hands of this. Don't thiey get it that people will stay away from future Sony poducts unless their offer some meaningful support. Their options they ALWAYS suggest are i) factory reset ii) repair using the xperia software iii) send it back to Sony for a month or so and get the product back in with the same bug. It saddens me that Sony are treating their customers with such contempt. Goodbye Sony.....
