Why is it every shop phone shop I go to sells the Sony phone but not the cases I have tried everywhere if I knew I was going to have so much trouble finding a case I would have stayed with Samsung

With a little bit of patience you can buy the most beautiful cases for your shine device.

Sony style cover

With a bit more patience you can buy them for fancy prices from AliExpress

I bought mine for 3 or 4 dollars (different case). It took 2-3 weeks for delivery, but I am quite happy with it.

Let me give you a tip for 3rd party cases.

If you build in a little magnet in the cover of the case at the right spot you will have MAGnetIC opening too.

As soon as you lift the cover your phone's screen will light up.

No more pushing the on/off button, no double tap to wake.

Open the cover and your phone starts!

Sony covers have this magic built in by default in most cases.

Thanks for the tip about magnetic opening Strampke, I'm sure I have an old piece of self adhesive magnetic strip somewhere in the house. Can you tell us where about on the front cover it should be placed?

For Xperia X it is here:IMG_20171220_194951.jpg

For Xperia Z3 Compact it is here:DSC_8700.JPG

and for your device you have to ask Google or just try with a tiny magnet you took from an old phone case.

Take care, it is dependent of the polarity of the magnet. Only one side works.

Thanks Strampke both for the information and the idea. Your photos have not been approved by the Admins yet but I have been playing around and managed to locate the Hall Element via the Service Tests. It is just below the Selfie Lens.

I recently threw out my old cases but it will be worth spending another £1.99 on another case just to scavenge the magnet.

Service test: *#*#SERVICE#*#*  which translates to *#*#7378423#*#* -> service tests -> Hall element test
