You will receive advertisements if you're Email address is registered on websites that sends advertisements. This is not something that can be changed in the device, since it's related to your Email address.
I'm not quite sure what you mean with returning the Email to the sender, it's probably easier if you just delete it.
If it is newsletter and so forth, you may have a link at the bottom of the Email where you can unsubscribe from the newsletter(s).
