Hello all,
I hope someone else is familiar with this problem and there is a solution.
The only way to clear the notification dot is to clear all data/cache within the app or restart the phone.
The dot clears from my messages WhatsApp and Facebook icons but as I said not from calls.
I have gone as far as a factory reset which did work for a day or so.
This problem seems to exist on other devices such as Oneplus, which could point toward an Android software problem.
Any help with this would be most appreciated.
Thx AL.
Hello again,
No the problem returned, it had resolved for a long time but only recently occurred again, in particular immediately after the last Xperia update which I installed a few days ago. I am very very dissapointed that technology of this level is not working as it should and wish I had not installed the update!!
Hi @AL93, sorry to hear that.
This has nothing to do with the system update or the Android system in general as it is the Google Phone application that is the cause of this.
A new update for the application is currently being rolled out so please keep an eye out in the Google Play store for an update for this application and hopefully it finally will remedy the behaviour.
I am very glad that it is not the Sony update and that after 6 months this has been clarified by yourselves thank you.
Although as I said my phone had been clear of this fault for a long time hense the reason I had not been back on the forum, but the day after the update it returned, so I hope you can understand my thinking.
Kind regards,
AL.
Hi @AL93,
No worries and I wasn't sure either until I got the information that it was the application and not something to do with the actual device.
I'm not sure why it's taking so long to sort this out. Perhaps it's more complicated than we think it is and that Google has been working hard on Android 10 and this has not been a priority.
Let me know if/when you receive the update to the Google Phone application and how it works with the new version!
