Best way to put 4K video on the TV?

Hi,

What's the best way to play 4K videos from my XZ1 Compact on my television?  I do not want to upload to YouTube and I want to avoid transfering to a middle-man USB stick

Weirdly, Sony PlayMemories Online does not appear to support 4K videos, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

If anyone cares the TV is a XBR65X900B

Thanks

It'll be using DLNA. If the content (file format) isn't supported you could try installing a media server on your PC instead which supports transcoding. I use Serviio.

Take it you haven't got your PC (or a laptop) plugged directly into the TV (using the TV as a monitor)? If it's near by and the video card supports 4K that may be the easiest way alternatively.

Yes thanks so the idea was that the QNAP would do the transcoding between formats (preferably still in 4K!), but I have this little issue where the HDMI just can't make the run (more due to the number of intermediate connection points/wall jacks than the 50', I think)... ironically with everything I have hooked up, my desktop is not one of them... I guess I could try my Thinkpad... also I have been saving as h.265... maybe I should try casting with h.264.. even though it will chew up all my memory

Who are the ad wizards who decided to use the term "cast" for all these competing technologies?  Oy it's so confusing, Chromecast, Miracast, DLNACast!

Secretly I have been hoping that someone would chime in here with a solution involving some combination of my PS4 Pro, the XZ1, and maybe PlayMemories or something along those lines (that wouldn't require another dongle or changing my HDMI runs)... so if that person is reading this, please speak up!

EDIT: Thought about this 30 seconds more and maybe I can make the QNAP transcode into a 4K format the X900B supports and then play via DLNA, rather than the box's direct HDMI output.  This is getting to be a lot of work.
